Junean Engelsen, PA-C

Junean Engelsen, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant providing both medical and aesthetic dermatology care at Contemporary Dermatology. She brings 15 years of clinical experience across hospital medicine, primary care, and urgent care, along with nearly four years of specialized experience in aesthetic and wellness medicine.

Ms. Engelsen’s broad medical background allows her to take a comprehensive approach to skin health while providing evaluation and treatment for a range of common dermatologic concerns. Her experience includes the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, wound assessment and repair, minor procedures, medication management, diagnostic testing, and patient education.

In aesthetic medicine, Ms. Engelsen has advanced training and experience with neuromodulators, including Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify®, as well as dermal fillers and biostimulatory treatments including Sculptra® and Radiesse®. She has additional experience with IPL, laser hair removal, vascular treatments, microneedling, and sclerotherapy. Her approach emphasizes facial balancing, careful assessment of facial anatomy, patient safety, and natural-looking results.

Ms. Engelsen is particularly interested in developing individualized treatment plans that integrate medical skin health with aesthetic care. She values patient education, clear communication, and long-term relationships and works collaboratively with Contemporary Dermatology’s medical and aesthetic teams to provide coordinated, evidence-based care.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Ms. Engelsen earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Springfield College and her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has completed extensive advanced training in aesthetic medicine, including master injector training and additional education in facial anatomy, advanced injection techniques, aesthetic ultrasound, laser technologies, and complication management.

AFFILIATIONS & LICENSURE

Ms. Engelsen is a licensed Physician Assistant in Massachusetts and has been certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) since 2011. She also maintains DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration, ACLS and BLS certification, and laser certification through Empire Medical Training. Her professional memberships have included the American Academy of Physician Associates and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
